Introduction

disable_windows_auto_updates_logo
Stop automatic windows update in windows 10 and manage bandwidth consumption.

Note : We do not recommend that you disable automatic Windows Update in Windows 10. If your computer is fine with downloads in background and doesn’t affect your work, it is not advisable to do it. But if you face slowdown of computer due to updates downloading and installing in the background, this post is for you.

Actually in windows 10, microsoft don’t allow their users to turn off automatic windows updates like they have option in earlier versions of windows. It is my personal habit off turning off windows updates and turn them on only when needed , because windows updates most of the times slow down your computer and eats up a lot of bandwidth “without notifying users”.

Since, I installed windows 10 on my system, I was getting many issues with my internet and PC slowdown issues. There was something wrong. This windows update feature in windows 10 is so dominating that it almost stops internet connection for other apps you are using and download windows updates with full bandwidth.

Recently I installed DU Meter 7.20 (Bandwidth/speed monitor for your PC) to monitor my incoming and outgoing connection and I saw some apps like SVCHOST.exe and NETSVCS like processes eating up all my bandwidth. and at that time I was not able to even browse internet.

I Searched a lot over internet about these processes and found that these are process are combined process of many applications which use same resource And windows updates was one of the process which is consuming that bandwidth. Finally got this small portable utility which can easily disable or enable windows updates and some other features easily.
